It’s been a little over 2 weeks since the knee injection. The initial result has been satisfactory. I have noted decreased swelling of what had been chronic in the knee for the past 9 months. I have increased my range of motion without the same pain I had previously. I have more confidence. This is the Honeymoon phase.
The actual work to be done is after the initial Prolotherapy response when hopefully the stem cells have rallied more of my own cells and rebuilding material to permanently do some repair. Prolotherapy is something that’s been done for quite some time (I had it done myself) where you can inject saline, lidocaine and other benign agents into the surrounding tissues of an area to elicit an inflammatory response and rally healing of an injured area. The results are oftentimes short lived.
I have been back on the mountain bike at least 3 times now and have been very happy with the result. I am able to do so without fear that the knee will give out. We’ll see what happens once our gyms are re-opened and I can get back to some weight training. My goal is to be able to fully move the knee with confidence during Telemark skiing next winter.
More updates on my Stem Cell knee procedure to follow. So far, I would say if you are an athletic 50 + year old person that has a passion for your activities and no serious health issues, save some money now to consider this therapy before it’s too late and your only option is the total knee replacement.
