Face-To-Face

My Geriatric Patients have, in many cases, multiple chronic medical conditions that I can help manage with frequent visits.   The most pressing concern these days is worsening loneliness and isolation,  now worsened by the viral concerns in the community. Families are not allowed to visit. In some cases, my house calls have been their only contact with the outside world.

Technology can help. If you have a loved one who is isolated, set up phone or web communication and keep in touch. If you have it available in your community and your relative cannot drive safely, set them up with a Medical Practice that can make a home visit..

The more you can reduce their anxiety and depression, the more positive the effect will be on their Chronic conditions.

Telemedicine can work for those of us with Tech Savvy. However, imagine a lonely, depressed elder who has cognitive impairment. Try to negotiate that.

Nothing compares to face-to-face encounters to reassure these folks.
